Pakayla Biehn takes photorealistic painting to a whole new level in her series Double Exposure.
About the project:
Building upon the double exposure theme of her previous works, Pakayla uses oil paint on canvas to present dream-like transfiguration of the natural world. The skill and refined beauty of her paintings enlists a realist style that recalls the delicacy, formality, and craftsmanship of old master techniques. She combines the cultivation of the portrait with a very intimate and vibrant observation of nature.
Omg that last one. “Words are weapons, but weapons are also weapons.”

Today’s retail therapy.
- Baby roseline sharks! They are usually between $30 and $50. I got them for $7. SCORE.
- Snails that will eat the algae in my tanks. (I hope.)
- A neoprene case and wireless mouse for my netbook, plus Lady and the Tramp and Space Jam. (Space Jam was only $5!)
- Many Waters and A Switfly Tilting Planet by Madeleine L’Engle and a replacement for my missing copy of The Amber Spyglass. (Am now so tempted to reread the trilogy!)
- These fantastic retro metal superhero lithographs for my brother’s (VERY) belated birthday. I also got a lithograph for my sister, but I won’t post it here because she has tumblr and I don’t want her to see it.
